Happy Friday!

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!! The sky is blue as blue can be, the sun is shining, it's warm--my kinda day. Not one where we should be stuck inside, we should be out sopping this up with a biscuit! :) Looking forward to the weekend--Tomorrow will be Shane's last soccer game of the season. I think he's secretly glad. After soccer, Mama and I are heading to Victoria's Day Spa for facials, pedicures and lunch. I'm looking forward to spending some time with her and getting a fresh coat of paint on my toes. Sunday, I think we are going to head out on the Half Moon for some family time :)

You might remember the previous post when I told you that Shane wasn't happy about having to take soccer pictures...well, here's the result---Is it not TOO CUTE!! :)

Oh to be 4 again...

Remember when you were 4? Things were so simple--you didn't have to go to work, school was only 2 days a week until lunchtime and you really liked it and were upset when you didn't get to go. Your job was to play. Really, to play...There was naptime. People were excited to see you, even if they didn't know you. You were unaware of all of the craziness that occurs in the world. You didn't have bills. Someone drove you everywhere, helped you get dressed, fixed your meals and helped bathe you. You got SO excited when someone sent you mail. You're whole life is ahead of you, you haven't made any mistakes yet. Being 4 was so easy....I miss easy.

Sun, Fun, and Easter...

The weekend has once again flown by! Shane didn't have soccer on Saturday, so that gave us a chance to sleep in for a bit---something that seems to happen so rarely these days, Shane and I covet it. After we got up and had breakfast, I took him to Nanny's house where he had a date with Allie Garnett. He had a great time making cookies and eating spaghetti for lunch. Ann picked him up for us so that Rob and I could have a little mini date night. We left around 2:00 and headed over to Williamsburg. Rob has lost so much weight that he had no shorts that fit, so we went to the outlets and he found plenty of pants and shorts and at great deals, I might add. Shane has grown so much that he didn't have any shorts that fit either, so I also got him all fixed up. We left there and went to Marshalls so I could shop for some capri's that fit me :) After shopping, we went to Bonefish--DELISH! I had bang bang tacos and they were fabulous--I can't wait to go back so I can have them again. Sunday morning we awoke to screaching at 7am when Shane realized that the Easter Bunny had indeed stopped at our house (against his better judgement)... After spending the early morning, checking out the basket and having some coffee and doughnuts, we got ready for church. We headed out to Salem in time for Shane to participate in the Easter Egg hunt, which he quite enjoyed and we stayed to hear Bill John's sermon. After church, we went to Mama & Daddy's for a delicious Easter lunch of ham and all the fixings as well as the most delicious cake I've ever had!! Orange dream cake....my new favorite :) We went by Tatterson's on the way home and picked up some veggies to plant. The rest of the day was spent outside, planting, weeding, watering, and riding the golf cart. Great weather, hope it keeps up!!

Storms & Easter Eggs...

This weekend Shane & I were on our own, as Rob went to his semi annual South Hill camping adventure. Thursday night, we went with Mom & Dad to Williamsburg after work. We did some shopping at Steinmart, had dinner at Carrabbas and then hit Barnes and Noble on the way back home. Friday, I had to work and attend a meeting in Newport News, Shane stayed with my Mama. Saturday morning, Shane had soccer. He had a very poor attitude and didn't want to play. We came home and I did some cleaning...then the storms came---so devastating for Gloucester and Deltaville. We all need to keep those folks in our prayers. It just shows how your life can change in just a moment....Sunday, Shane and I dyed Easter eggs---I forget how much fun that is...we had a great time. Rob returned Sunday, we rode around on the golf cart and hung around outside for a while, then headed to Nanny's for dinner. Shane was very well behaved at dinner and found out that he likes cabbage! :) I really missed Big Nutty Rob this weekend, so glad he's home, there's no soccer next weekend, so I'm looking forward to a fun family weekend next week.

Feeling Blue...

I've been in a bit of a funk lately...not real sure what's wrong with me--I just don't feel like myself. I feel like I could cry if someone looks at me funny, I feel like I want to hole myself up somewhere with no one but Shane and Rob and not come out for months at a time...When I try to do something "fun", I find I feel guilty for not being with Shane since I have to leave him with someone else everyday while I go to work...I feel like I wear so many hats that I'm not doing anything to the potential that I am capable of...I'm a half assed worker, a half assed wife and a half assed mom....This too shall pass. Here's some pics of things that make me smile---

Golfing, Shopping & Boat Rides...

So, once again, this weekend flew by and I even had a 3 day weekend. On Friday, our church held a golf tournament to benefit a mission trip being taken by some ladies this summer to an overseas orphanage. I admire their courage to take on this trip and know that the experience they will have will be life changing for them and also for the kids they come in contact with. My dad was in charge of the golf tournament and he did a great job organizing the event. From what we can tell, they probably raised about $3000...not a bad day's work! :) Nancy & I braved the cold day to be "Hole Watchers" for the hole in one prize for part of the day--we also sold raffle tickets to the players and put together gift bags for them. It was a long and cold day, but I think everyone had a good time playing.

On Saturday, we had soccer--yet another cold, gloomy weather day. Shane had fun playing and it's great to see the progress the kids have made. It actually looks more like a game now instead of a bunch of kids running crazy in a field...ha! After soccer, I went to see Kay and get my haircut, finally--I love it! She gave me some style and set it up to grow a little longer...She made me make an appointment for my next trim before leaving there so I wouldn't wait so long to get it cut next time--ha! LOVE HER! :) Rebecca went with me and then we left there and did some shopping and had dinner at Bonefish--a great day! I loved being with her--it had been entirely too long since our last shopping excursion.

Sunday, we took our families out on the Half Moon---it was a nice day, but a little chilly---they all seemed to enjoy our cruise down the East River while dining on BBQ and cheese and sipping on wine. I'm ready for the 100 degree days--it was a little too chilly for me and the pollen is about ready to make my head explode! My favorite part of Sunday was listening to my dad and Shane having conversations in the "shed"...that was so funny!

April Showers,,,

Hopefully the saying is true and April showers bring May flowers...I am SO sick and tired of the wacky weather! A sweater today, a tank top tomorrow....I never know what to wear...Uggs or sandals or my wellies...Over the past weekend, we had another soccer game--Shane played great! He seems to be enjoying it even more. Sunday, we spent down at the boat slip scrubbing and cleaning on the Half Moon--we had a great day and by the end of it, the wind had died down and we went for a cruise up and down the East River...I'm so excited by what's in store for me and my rock star family this summer--so many fun times together :) Yesterday was pajama day at school for Shane. He was SO excited--I swear I think he was more excited than he was at Christmas--I loved watching his face and the excitement as each child got out of the cars in front of us and he could see what PJs they had worn to school that day--He was so amused that the teacher even had her PJs on...He said it was a great day; they even made homemade waffles for their snack time. I wonder what Joshua Junker would think of having a pajama day at State Farm?? ha! :) Yesterday, we had soccer pictures taken...Not sure who's idea it was to have a picture taking session with 4-5 year olds at 5:00pm on a Tuesday night--I have to say, that wasn't their brightest moment...After fighting Shane to get his uniform on him, listening to him whine all the way to the school, then hang on my leg and tell me that he wasn't going to smile, then standing around for 50 minutes while we waited for everyone else to show up, we finally headed home....not sure how those pics will turn out, but I'm sure I'll think they're the greatest, no matter whether he's smiling or not... :)
