Last night, Shane went to church with my parents so Rob and I headed out on the Half Moon for a little date night. Rob had marinated rib eye steaks and made salads for us, we took a nice bottle of red wine and cruised right on out of Davis Creek and anchored out by New Point Island. Nothing like a light sea breeze, views of the lighthouse and watching the sun go down while grilling some steaks and having a glass of wine with the love of your life! :) Thanks Mr. Lova for a great night out!!

My Little Boy is 5!
I can't believe he's 5...seems like yesterday he was swaddled up in a blanket in his swing in the living room...Now, instead of diapers and formula and binkies, it's chicken nuggets and Cars 2 and preschool. He's evolved into this little boy, no longer a toddler, that people find cute and funny and amusing. It makes me smile to think of things that come out of his mouth at times. He's so funny and very intrigued by the world around him--not afraid to ask questions about anything and definately not afraid to offer his opinion on something. Shane turned 5 on Friday, September 23. We spend the entire weekend celebrating. Friday was his Special Day at school. We took in cupcakes and some snacks to share with the class. After school, we met Rob for lunch at Linda's (that was Shane's pick). Then we headed home to get ready for the rest of the weekend. On Saturday, all of Shane's little friends came to his Cars 2 birthday party. We had a 3 foot subway sub, Cars shaped chicken nuggets and a Cars bounce house. Seems that everyone had a fantastic time and Shane was happy that everyone came! On Sunday, our family came to help Shane celebrate turning 5 with a spaghetti & meatball lunch--Shane's favorite. He's been spoiled all weekend and wasn't happy about having to return back to normal on Monday morning...

Laundry Room Makeover
I needed something, wasn't sure what it was...then I decided---STRIPES!! Yes! That's what I needed....that's what would make doing laundry fun! So, I enlisted the help of my fabulous perfectionist hubby (a little tip...never paint stripes with a perfectionist) The result is one of the coolest most fantastic looking laundry rooms ever...now, laundry still isn't fun, but I do find myself lingering in that room just a little longer than I would have before...

A Day of Firsts...
Friday was a big day for Shane--his first day of 3 day preschool and his first dental appointment. Both went extremely well! He was so excited to be going back to Kingston Parish. He missed all of his little friends over the summer as well as Mrs. Desmond. She is such a doll! The kids just adore her and she adores them as well. I hope they know how lucky they are to have her. I took Shane to school and picked him up for his first day, which I think he loved. He told me in the car that he was "jealous" about going to school....ha! I think he meant he was nervous, he just got a little confused. But, after we got there, he was ready to play! He had a great day and can't wait to get back there on Monday!

After school, we headed over to Gloucester for Shane's first dentist appointment, which was at Dr. Ann's office where my good friend Jackie (AKA Gogo) works...Shane told me on the way there that he was nervous (clearly, the previous conversation sunk in, as he actually said nervous instead of jealous...ha!) It helped that Gogo was going to be there as she also adores him. He asked that I take a picture of his "nervous dentist face"....which I did....
Then, he sat back in that chair like an old pro--opened his mouth, had not single problem and has left there loving the dentist....so, now he says he can't wait to go back--it was just a bonus when he found out that they had Cars 2 toothbrushes that he got to pick from! :) I'm so proud of my little boy who's growing up!!
