A Birthday Party & A Completion....

A nice weekend! Shane had indoor soccer on Saturday morning and then a birthday party on Saturday afternoon---a full day that wore him out and made bedtime quite pleasant. John Stephen Shaw turned 5 and to celebrate he invited his friends to join him for a good old fashioned backyard football game. Mother Nature was not having that, as it rained and poured all day Saturday--so, they played indoors at the high school gym. "Coach Brandon" from the YMCA came and led the kids in the football game. They absolutely love him (he's Shane's indoor soccer coach as well) and he has the patience of Job....It was so much fun watching them...Shane has never played football before, so this was new territory for him. All the kids put on their helmets and had a blast! They looked like little bobble heads running all over the gym. After the game, we all headed back to John Stephen's house for some delicious cake and ice cream. It was a great day!

While Shane & I were at the indoor soccer game on Saturday morning, Rob & my dad were hard at work laying the bamboo flooring in Shane's room and the guest room....you can imagine my surprise when I got back to the house at 1:30pm and both rooms were just about done! I was shocked--they worked so hard and the end result is BEAUTIFUL! Sunday, Rob & I headed back up to Poplar Grove and put the baseboards in the guest room, Rob hung the doors and the ceiling fan and we finally have a finished room!!! :) It feels so good to see all the hard work paying off. My next project may be building a headboard for the guest bed....stayed tuned for that one!

Bonus Room Before & After...

So, I divulged in my last post that we bought a house. We've spend many hours working there on the weekends and evenings after work. I wanted to post some before/after pictures but it seems that nothing is completely done yet...We seem to be moving on to the next project before we are finished with the current one. That's to no fault of our own, of course. We finished the painting (mostly) in Shane's room & the guest room, but are still awaiting the arrival of the bamboo flooring to be completely done. This past weekend, we did paint the bonus room, but do you think I took the before and after pictures from the same angle....no....DIY Network would TOTALLY fire me! hah! So, without further ado, here's some pictures...Not exactly what I wanted to share, but there will definitely be more to come!Our big backyard that Shane is already enjoying!

Bonus Room (angle 2) after painting a beautiful daffodil color! This room will be mainly used as Shane Land. Soon it will be filled with all his games and toys. We'll put the pinball machine up here and have a big TV with the Wii and karaokoe hooked up at all times. I'm thinking it would be fun to decorate the walls with kids movie posters...

Happy New Year 2012!

Can you believe it's 2012?! I thought for sure we'd be living like the Jetson's by now...ha! We had a fabulous low key New Year's Eve celebration with our good friends Clint & Audrey. The kids had a blast playing together and we even shot off a few fireworks. The rest of our weekend was spend working on our new project....OUR NEW HOUSE! We closed on December 19 and have been hard at work ever since. I'm so excited for this new chapter in our lives. A bigger home with more land...I think it's just what the doctor ordered! I walk through the house and can just feel good vibes about what our life will be like there. I think it will be a place that Shane will have fond memories of growing up, running through the yard. I look forward to sharing my before and after pictures here too....sort of a little Blog Cabin: Norris Edition :)
